10 tips for managing stress.

As a person that is prone to stress easily, I have been very interested in how stress effects our bodies & how I can reduce stress in my life. Studies show that " that almost every system in the body can be influenced by chronic stress. When chronic stress goes unreleased, it suppresses the body’s immune system and ultimately manifests as illness."

Life is stressful and stress is inevitable. There are events, situations, people etc. that will all cause stress in our lives. But I have found the above 10 things helpful in reducing stress and or managing stress when it undoubtedly shows itself.

  1. Stress reducing essential oils such as Stress Away. Pop the top on the stress away bottle, take a deep inhale then apply to your wrists and neck. Smells like a dream & is created to help you de stress. Studies show that certain scents can alter brainwave activity and decrease the stress hormone in the body.

  1. Take a break. Take a moment to take some deep breaths, stretch, and re focus.
  2. Move your body. Take a walk, run in place, do a workout. Get outside!
  3. Prayer, Yoga, meditation and deep breathing. I like to listen to my "Calm" spotify station during these exercises.
  4. Learn your stress triggers and be aware of them so you can react appropriately.
  5. Laugh. I love laughing. It instantly makes me in a better mood.
  6. Hot, relaxing detox baths. I even like adding in some Epsom salts with a few drops of stress away oil!
  7. Relax your muscles. For me it’s lowering my shoulders. I carry stress in my shoulders. For some it might be unclenching your jaw or your fists.
  8. Eat healthy foods that fuel your body.
  9. Cuddle. Hug a loved one. Soak up that oxytocin!!
